Live Music

Hey Up!
How the devil are you all? I trust you are all well. On behalf of my good lady and myself, pictured here in a horse drawn cab in Central Park in NYC in September on our belated but lovely honeymoon, I must tell you that this Saturday night our wonderful show has live music on it! Our friend Ellen Cogen will be playing live and talking about other good stuffto boot! We'll be playing some of our jazz and blues faves as well.
We're really looking forward to having Ellen on the show. It should be ( no make that will be ! ) a fantastic show! Tell your friends and relatives to tune in to us whenever they can. Just to remind you, Valley Free Radio 103.3FM or www.valleyfreeradio.org from 8pm ET onwards.
See you then

Tribute Night Fun
Hey Up!
Well, what a fun night we had on Saturday. Linda and I attended a function at Easthampton Congregational Church. There was a supper to raise funds for The House Committee. It was delicious. The people who worked on it excelled themselves and deserve a lot of credit.
There was entertainment afterwards. Members of the choir ( Lewis, Mike, Don S and Don J ) sang songs from across the eras accompanied by Ellen ( http://www.ellencogen.com/ ) I was pleased to be able to take part in the proceedings as the master of ceremonies. It was great fun to do. The music was excellent, the food was great and everyone had a good time! Whilst on the subject of music at Easthampton, Ellen is doing a concert there on 25th November 2007 at 3pm, if my memory serves me correctly. For further information check out her website. She's a really talented musician and Linda and I can't wait to have her on our show.
Then, we headed off to Florence for the return of the now weekly "Nightclub". It was Rolling Stones Night. Strong Oak's "Sings In The Night" show had agreed to cover for us so we were grateful to them for doing that.
The trouble when deciding what songs to do for tribute nights, and especially so with a band like The Rolling Stones ( or Simply Red, the band that brought us together ) is what to play and what to leave out. I'm smiling now, but Linda and I have got more disciplined in choosing songs, knowing that we need 80 minutes of music to go along with the 40 minutes of chat that makes the mix! It's a formula we have developed that we now know works for us in putting on our show and mine ( The Late English Breakfast, every Monday morning, 10am - 12 noon ) together.
If you want to see what songs we chose, check out www.myspace.com/thenightclubwithlindaandeddie for the details. I like to think we made some good choices. We must have done - we got a caller! Moreover, he liked the show! The giddyometer went off the scale again, let me make that perfectly clear! It's lovely when someone calls in. They don't have to, but when it happens, it's nice.
Oh well, it's time to start picking the music for this Saturday's extravaganza. It's an 80's and 90's night. So, get out your Rubik's cube and have fun on Valley Free Radio here in the Pioneer Valley on 103.3FM or online at http://www.valleyfreeradio.org/
Remember, "Staying In Is The New Going Out!" only on "The Nightclub"

MONEY MONEY MONEY
If you are looking to be very generous and help your community radio station, have we got a deal for you! Valley Free Radio is having a pledge drive November 12th to the 18th.
As you can guess community radio stations depend on the generosity of their listeners and friends to pay the way. Of course good folks like Eddie and myself make contributions as well. There is no other way for this station to stay on the air without your help. Please give what you can to keep the station running and keep free speech out there where it belongs...on WXOJ-LP, 103.3FM.
You can make a donation by calling the station during the pledge drive at 413-585-1160 or phone in during your favorite program 413-585-1033. The easiest way is to go online to Valley Free Radio's website: www.valleyfreeradio.org and you will see the link to click on to make your tax deductable donation.
Thanks from the bottom, middle and top of our hearts for your help!
Mucho hugs from us both
